Pilot Programming Launches.... TODAY!

Leveling the Fields is proud to announce that the pilot program at Philip Simmons Elementary starts today.

Over the course of 6 weeks, girls will be exposed to lacrosse, volleyball and soccer with the goal being they pick one of those sports to continue planning. Five scholarship spots were given to school administration to target specific girls who would benefit from this type of after school activity.

But why do we want girls exposed to sports in the early grades? Girls who participate in sports are 92% more likely to succeed in leadership roles later in life.*

In addition to learning sports skills, girls will learn empowerment skills focused on one each week: trust, enthusiasm, encouragement, fear, motivation, and goal setting.

We will be collecting pre and post program quantitative and qualitative data to help guide future programming, but we are excited to officially get started.

A few shout outs:
Melyssa – for being our fearless leader
Amanda – for creating the surveys
Kristan – for aligning the coaches guide with the Believe in You Empowerment Journals
Adrianne, Lisa, and Abby – for being our first coaches
